Common hair loss causes- Details

Shedding hair is considered as a healthy process as it lets for new hair growth on the scalp. In general, 10 percent of hair is in the resting phase. After 2 or 3 months, the hair fiber in the resting phase falls out to facilitate the re-growth of new hair in its place. If there occurs any interruption in the normal hair growth cycles, that can direct to extreme hair loss. Discussed below are some of the common causes of hair loss.
Hormonal imbalances
In both genetic and other types of hair loss, imbalance in the level of hormones is the major reasons. When it comes to women's hair loss, hormonal imbalance is one of the most common causes. It happens when there is an excess of the testosterone hormone. By an enzyme called 5 alpha-reductase found in the hair follicles, the surplus testosterone is transformed to dihydrostestosterone (DHT). The DHT miniaturizes the hair follicle and effects in hair thinning. As a result, the hair follicle dies and hair fiber finally falls out.
In hair growth, thyroid hormones also play a key role. Any disturbance in the regular production of thyroid hormones results in too much hair loss.
Nutrition
Another thing that is linked to hair loss is the lack of proper nutrition. Being a constant metabolic activity, hair growth needs sufficient supply of food. If there is a lack of sufficient food supply to follicles, that decreases normal metabolic activity and ultimately leads to excess hair loss.
Stress
For increased hair loss, stress is also among the widespread reasons. Experts considered that the hair follicles are bounded with nerve cells network. Any distraction in the normal nerve cells' signals leads to unpleasant effects on the hair follicles and their growth.
Harmful Chemicals present in hair care products
Generally artificial hair care products include destructive chemicals that can bring harsh, negative effects on hair follicles.
A detergent used in conditioners, shampoos and other toiletry products is Sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS). It damages the hair and can reason severe irritation of the skin. Another poisonous chemical is Formaldehyde. Generally, it is used in cosmetics, including shampoos and conditioners as a preservative.
A liquid substance, Propylene glycol (PG) is used in hair care products and other skin cosmetics. Isopropyl is another poisonous solvent and denaturant. It is powerful enough to transform the composition of other chemicals. It is used in the formulations of hair color rinses, perfumes, body rubs, cosmetics and un-concentrated essential oils.
