1. Eat more eggs and drink more milk. Both of these foods are rich in the mineral zinc, which if you suffer from a zinc deficiency, you will get those noticeable white spots on your nails. Drink a glass of milk per day and eat a hard boiled egg, it's that easy.
2. Don't use nail polish removers that contain formaldehyde or that contain acetone. Rather, most nail experts suggest that you use acetate, which is gentler on your nails. 
3. Consume more biotin. Biotin is a vitamin B derived wonder for your nails. It's used to create stronger horse hoofs and also helps to greatly strengthen your nails. According to some recent studies, those who consume biotin daily enjoy nails that are at least 50% stronger than those who do not.
4. When you clean, wear protective gloves. Those harsh cleaners can truly wreak havoc on your nails. Simply don some gloves and protect your nails and hands when you are cleaning. 
5. Hydrate your nails at night using petroleum jelly or castor oil. Simply rub a small amount into the cuticles to hydrate your nails before going to bed.
